About Us

Introduction

Prime Nepal, established in 2019, is a national level nongovernmental, non-political and non-profit making organization registered under Organization Registration Act 1977 in District Administration Office, Chitwan with Reg. No. 022 and affiliated with Social Welfare Council (SWC) of Nepal with affiliation No.50719. Prime Nepal is registered Inland Revenue Department with the Permanent Account Number (PAN) – 611838609. It works for mental health and psychosocial services for individual, family and group with the aim of promoting mental health and psychosocial well being of the people.

Prime Nepal also formed in response to empowering the mental health and well being of the people of our society. Its aims range from working for the minimization of the mental health issues to supporting to utilize the creative potentials of the people of different age groups, class, castes, and communities so that the goal of sustainable development with equitable distribution of opportunities could be achieved. It addresses the burning mental health issues which are neglected in our society. Moreover, this organization works for the elimination of stigmas and malpractices that cripple the creative potentials of individuals and deter them from leading of a healthy and socially secure life.

Prime Nepal looks for to improve awareness in mental health, mental disorders and the promotion of mentally healthy lifestyles in the community by participation of community structure and amongst health personnel. We fully believed in community participation as well as participatory approach for quality services.

Prime Nepal has exports (to be used when needed) and the experienced members in designing, developing and implementing the programs on educating the children about convulsion disorder, teachers about psychosocial wellbeing and community people about various disorders i.e. depression, anxiety, psychosis, alcohol use disorder, epilepsy and suicide prevention with an effective approach without evoking the existing socio cultural values. In addition we conduct a range of trainings starting from a few days basic psychosocial orientation to six months counseling trainings. Other modular trainings such as Gestalt Therapy (GT), Healthy Activity Program (HAP) for depressive clients, Counseling for Alcohol Problem (CAP), Thinking Healthy Activity (THA) for Maternal Depression, Supervision training for Psychosocial Counselor, Principle of Behavior Analysis for Use in the Support of Children with Development Disabilities and their Families and Motivational Interviewing (MI) for alcohol problems are also presented.

The Prime Nepal is more operational and convinced by the expertise of the team members who have contributed to different NGO/INGOs for implementing different innovative, cost effective and result oriented programs.

Vision

Prime Nepal aims at providing a mental health and psychosocial service to the people without any prejudice. It empowers peoples to speak openly about mental health in order to aware others and encourage help seeking while also providing expertise in mental health promotion. Prime Nepal envisions at changing the way society understands mental health and developing the concept of mental illness can be treated like any other medical illness.

Mission

Prime Nepal is a nonprofit organization dedicated to utilizing the people's voice to raise mental health awareness among the peoples. We endeavor in unifying voice to make a positive difference on people's mental health and wellbeing through advocacy, awareness and service.

Objectives

To study, research and publish reports on mental health and its related issues.

To increase involvement of key policy makers on mental health and psychosocial initiatives.

To develop knowledge, skills and capacity in psychosocial and mental health issues.

To conduct different trainings, awareness and community sensitization program on psychosocial and mental health issues through community/school orientation, interaction, brochures and IEC materials.

To identify various issues on mental health and address the current policy, service gap and mainstreaming these issues in the governments plan.

To dispel myths about mental health/illness.

To conduct anti stigma programs and involving service users in those activities to make them feel more confident to talk about mental health.

Design, endorse and implement comprehensive resource generation and development plans and strategies to adequately support the organization vision, mission, goals and to achieve its objective.
